It all started on a professional level when Jan got signed as a producer and artist to the now legendary Cheiron studio in Stockholm (famous for Max Martin and Denniz Pop) back in 1994, working in the studio with his own dance-project. The song «Party People» eventually got released on Mega Records (Ace of Base ++) in Denmark, becoming a scandinavian club-hit.
Later on he teamed up with Thomas Heyerdahl, forming the pop project Di-Mico, and got signed to Universal in Norway (then Polygram) after a bidding-war. The first single "All I Wanna Do" peaked at #11 in the charts. The year 2000 also saw him writing and producing «Can It Be Love» for Polydor UK for their artist Samantha Mumba. The song was a B-side to her UK #1 single «Gotta Tell You». He signed his first publishing agreement with Chrysalis in Scandinavia (through Pelle Lidell and David Rowley).
